Departmental Orientation Programme

The Department of Psychology organized an orientation program for the Freshers 2015 (Both Undergraduate and Postgraduate) on Monday, 27th of July, 2015. This event was organized in order to formally acquaint the new students with the structure, functioning and activities of the department as well as the University.

 

The orientation program began at 12.30 pm with a traditional welcome and the handing out of name tags to identify all the students present for the event. After everyone had settled down, a fun activity was introduced to break the ice between the freshers and seniors. Afterwards Dr. Roopa Mathur, Dean Academics acquainted the students with the process of evaluation and credit system  at the IIS University.

 After her important and insightful words, the MA Final year students put up a dance on some peppy Bollywood numbers to lighten the mood. 

 

All the students were then acquainted with the syllabus of various courses offered in psychology department and also about the various activities conducted and how to go about using the Metacampus.  Next was another ice-breaker activity followed by the closing remarks given by Head of Department, Dr. Chandrani Sen. 

This was followed by another interesting activity for the freshers which aimed at testing their quick reflexes through some fun-filled exercises. 

 

The highlight of the event was an AV movie presentation prepared by the Honours (Final Year) students elucidating the myths, dos and don'ts about Psychology followed by a Flash Mob comprising 2nd and 3rd year students from the Honours Program.

 

The orientation program concluded with the serving of refreshments.
