Objective: 

Course Objectives:

  • To provide opportunities for students to observe real problems and to use personal and academic knowledge and skills to solve them.
  • To help students obtain direct experience in the field, providing services to people in real-life settings, such as hospitals, university counseling centers, mental health clinics, different organizations or community centers.

 

Course Outcomes:

  • CO130: Experience the connection between classroom learning and the world outside, to link the abstract concepts and principles of psychology to actual experience observe in action theories and principles taught in academic classes
  • CO131: Apply interpersonal problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • CO132: Learn to cope more effectively with stress and real-life difficulties in the work setting, to learn, understand, and follow a professional code of ethics.
  • CO133: Learn While Serving in a Psychology Internship to adapt to organizational procedures and professional practices at the internship site
  • CO134: Sample areas of potential career specialization in order to evaluate their attractiveness and suitability.

 

In the end of III Semester, students will undergo internship training of 120 hours/30 working days by participation in ongoing programmes of agencies / institutions and interaction with agency personnel/clients at all levels- in Hospitals/ mental health clinics / Counselling centers/ Special schools/ NGOs / Old age home/ or corporate organizations etc. so that they get to understand the existing working practices, conditions and acquire an in depth technical knowhow. The student shall prepare a report on the visit made to the organization. She will submit the report and will be required to make the presentation of the work followed by viva-voce. The students will be required to get the certificate regarding successful training.

 

Evaluation: Panel of examiners consisting of Head of the department, and two other examiners appointed by the Principal shall conduct a vice-voce and evaluate the reports. The students will be graded accordingly
