The department of psychology, IIS University (Deemed to be university, Jaipur), organised a departmental activity called “Happiness Corner” on 13th March, 2021. The activity was conducted by the Counselling and Career development cell (CCDC).
The activity took place at the stage area where two different activities were initiated. Students from Yearlong internship Programme specializing in Clinical and Counselling psychology volunteered and other departments had also participated. At first, the participants were guided by the volunteers to fill in their entry after which they performed the first activity, there were several emoticons and the participant had to select whichever emotion she feels strongly at the moment and had to stick the same on a board. Next, they were guided towards the next activity in which two jars were provided, one for positive thoughts and the other for negative thoughts. The participant had to jot down both her positive and negative thoughts which she feels currently and drop it down in the respective jars.
The activity was a success as about 117 students and many teachers from different departments showed up. Our honorable Chancellor Dr Ashok Gupta, Vice Chancellor Dr T.N Mathur, Rector and Registrar Dr Rakhi Gupta and advisor Prof. K.S Sharma also marked their graceful presence at the event and enthusiastically participated in the same.
Many curious students came and they also gave their feedback about this small initiative, one of the students stated that, “It is a really beautiful event. Great efforts you all put up here!”
The event ended with many students volunteering to do a zumba dance on some music which was done wonderfully by all the audience present there. It was truly one heart-warming activity as it gave a good opportunity to brighten up the day of the students and the teachers alike. It was not just interesting but was also the need of the hour to help the participants feel better in such critical times that we are facing lately. Such sterling activities are ought to be performed more often as they really help relax people from their ever so busy routine.
