The psychology department of IIS (deemed to be University), organized a Food walk in the four walled city of Jaipur on December 13th, 2023 in collaboration with Jaipur Virasat Foundation. The aim of this activity was to appreciate varieties of food & have a closer look at it. Faculties  along with students ventured to old Jaipur. There, the students were guided by Guide who imparted the knowledge of the historical origin of food.

As we know that, Jaipur, long famed for the proverbial Rajasthani thali, divine laal mass and scrumptious ghewar is amongst Rajasthan's greatest exponents of the state's regional culinary dalliances. The immense variety of snacks, savories and sweetmeats too speak of a rich and longstanding tryst with the culinary arts in all their distinctive variety and this food tour of Jaipur was the best way to experience a blend of Spice, sweet, tangy, dessert etc. The mouth- watering walk is taken in the old parts of the Pink City, and around areas. The food is genuine, flavourful and an excellent exemplar of state of the culinary arts of the state.

This journey through the walled city of the Old Quarter introduces us to the joys of eating as the locals do at our favorite haunts. For example, the old city's Chatorio Ki Gali is famous across the country for its name and also for its street food. As in earlier times, hordes of women still congregate to tuck into the spicy golgappe, chole bhature, tikki chole and faluda available in this alley, opposite the Bapu Bazaar- Link Road. Pandit Pav Bhaji, opposite Birla Mandir, is another name to be reckoned with, and we need to go with a local to find the original vendor. Some of the food outlets, surprised us, were even about 100 years old! It was indeed fun with learning.
