The Department of Psychology at IIS (deemed to be University) hosted "Group Discussion 2.0: Mann ki Baat" on October 10, 2023, in Srijan Hall. This event was part of the Mental Health Awareness Month activities designed to foster discussions on mental well-being among the university community. Starting from 10:30 AM, the session featured multiple rounds of group discussions, each lasting for 20 minutes and focusing on various everyday psychological topics.
The objective of the event was to enhance awareness and understanding of mental health issues, providing a platform for students and faculty to exchange views and personal experiences related to mental wellness. Each discussion round aimed at not only educating the participants but also promoting an open dialogue about mental health, thereby reducing stigma and fostering a supportive environment.
Participants from diverse academic backgrounds brought enriching perspectives to the table, contributing to a robust discussion. The event was structured to allow a free flow of ideas in a supportive setting, where individuals felt comfortable to voice their concerns and insights on mental health topics. This setup proved effective in engaging participants deeply, highlighting the community's commitment to addressing and understanding mental health challenges.
Key outcomes of the event included heightened awareness among attendees about mental health issues, dissemination of information on available psychological resources, and enhanced community support for individuals facing mental challenges. The discussions also provided valuable feedback for the department to consider in planning future mental health initiative.
