The Department of Psychology at IIS (deemed to be University) hosted an Open Mic event on October 12, 2023, at Aditya Hall, as part of the Mental Health Awareness Month initiatives. This event, starting at 10:30 AM, provided a platform for students to creatively express their insights and experiences related to mental health through poetry, songs, stand-up monologues, and dance performances.

The primary goal of the Open Mic was to enhance mental health awareness within the university community, offering an engaging way for students to connect and communicate their feelings on a subject that impacts many. Each participant brought their unique perspective to the stage, creating a diverse and enriching experience for the audience. Poets and singers delved into themes of hope, resilience, and the struggles associated with mental health challenges, while stand-up performers infused humor into their presentations, illustrating the therapeutic power of laughter. Dancers expressed their emotional journeys through movement, further emphasizing the event's theme of psychological expression and awareness.

The event was well-received, attracting a substantial audience that appreciated the blend of entertainment and education. The performances not only brought enjoyment but also highlighted the critical role of arts in discussing and understanding mental health issues. It successfully fostered a supportive atmosphere, encouraging openness and dialogue among students and faculty about mental well-being.

This Open Mic event significantly contributed to the ongoing efforts to support mental health at The IIS University, demonstrating the importance of creative expression in fostering a more informed and empathetic university community.
