The Department of Psychology in collaboration with Maybelline organized a talk on Mental health Anxiety & Stress under the Brave India initiative for all students of the University. The event was organized on the 16th and 17th of October in different time slots in the hall on the university campus. Mental Health is a critical aspect of overall well-being, yet stigma often surrounds open discussions about it. The "Brave Talk" initiative aims to break down following barriers by fostering a culture of openness and understanding
● Destigmatizing Mental Health:Encourage open conversations to reduce the stigma associated with mental health and Highlight that discussing mental health challenges is a sign of strength, not weakness.
● Increasing Awareness:Provide information about various mental health conditions, their prevalence, and available resources myths and misconceptions to promote accurate understanding.
● Creating Supportive Environments:Foster a workplace or community culture that encourages empathy and support for individuals facing mental health challenges. Promote the idea that everyone has a role in creating an inclusive and supportive atmosphere.
The talk was given by the representative of Maybelline India. Amongst them, there were mental health advocates and experts who emphasized mental health as a human right and talked about it in detail. They also discussed the signs of the individual who is facing mental health challenges. One of the most important points that was made is how we help our friend who is going through this till he/she gets professional help.
Overall, the Mental Health Brave Talk initiative plays a vital role in fostering a more open and understanding society regarding mental health. By providing a platform for brave individuals to share their stories, this initiative contributes to destigmatization, empowerment, community building, and education.
