Guest Lecture on Disability Sensitization

The students of psychology attended a Guest lecture on 'Disability Sensitization' on 23rd of August 2016.
People from Umang a non- profit organization acquainted the students about the problems faced by specially abled children which include learning difficulties like dyslexia, speech difficulties, autism , cerebral palsy and other mental challenges.
In order to sensitize the students on 'how it feels to be disabled and different from others' some of them were blindfolded, while others were made to sit on wheelchairs and assigned different  tasks on campus. Thus the students learnt the experiential differences between empathy and sympathy and how a team of speech therapists, language trainers, counsellors,  psychologists etc work together in order to make the lives of such specially abled individuals both beautiful and meaningful.
