Event: National Conference on Women, Health and Identity: Revisioning A Multidisciplinary Perspective

The two day National Conference on Gender Psychology: Revisioning A Multidisciplinary Perspective organized by the Department of Psychology in collaboration with ICSSR was held at ISIM Campus of the IIS University. At the outset was the welcome note by Dr. Ashok Gupta, Patron and Vice Chancellor, The IIS University. Prof. N.K Jain, Dean Arts and Social Sciences, threw a light on the theme of the conference, inaugural address was given by Prof. Madhu kishwar, Director Indic Studies Project, Center for Study of Developing Societies, Keynote address was delivered by Prof. Vimla Veera Raghavan, Emeritus Professor, IGNOU wherein she highlighted various issues faced by women especially in developing societies like violence, stereotyping, maternal mortality, etc. She also discussed how feminism helps women in dealing with these issues. There were eight technical sessions in all chaired by by Prof. Veera Raghavan, Dr. S.S. Nathawat, Dr. Nisha Yadav, Dr. A.V.S. Madnawat, Dr. Sharad Rathore, Dr. Uma Joshi and the last session was a panel discussion on women health and identity by Dr. Bhupendra Singh,IPS, Dr. Neeraj Pawan, IAS, Dr. Shipra Mathur from Rajasthan Patrika, Dr. Uma Joshi and Ms. Sadhana Garg. The conference had a total of 26 oral presentations and 62 poster presentations by both the faculty members and the students. Awards for best oral and poster presentations were also given to students.
The conference provided an apt platform for scholarly presentations, discussion, building networks and understanding on the issues of women, their health and identity.
