On Feb 27th, The State Road Safety Cell, Transport & Road Safety Department in collaboration with SMS Hospital Jaipur conducted a training session on Basic Life Support Skills, intending to train the participants to be efficient first responders. A total of 41 students from the Department of Psychology attended the session under the supervision of Ms. Ayushi Tyagi.
Mr. Rajkumar Rajpal, Sr. Nursing Officer & In-charge of the Skill Lab started off the session at 9:30 AM with a brief introduction of the Trauma Centre of SMS Hospital and later gave an interesting and informative demonstration on how to effectively respond and react to various unfortunate road accidents scenarios. The attendees learned a range of procedures such as Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED), Heimlich Manoeuvre, etc. After the tea break, Dr. Anurag Dhaker, the Nodal Officer at Trauma Center had a brief interactive session with the trainees, which was followed by a didactic session on Organ donation and transplantation. Dr. Devendra Purohit, Nodal Officer, Skill Lab Trauma Center, not only elucidated but also uncomplicated the subject of organ donation by clearing a lot of misconceptions. Mr. Radhelal Sharma further took a comprehensive practical session on how to handle an injured person in a wide range of scenarios such as fracture, bleeding, burning, snake bites, and poisoning. After taking an interval to have a sumptuous meal provided by the hosts, the attendees returned to a concluding session on Good Samaritan Law and Mukhyamantri Chiranjeevi Jeevan Raksha Yojana.
Before the conclusion of the conference, participants avidly asked questions and shared their thoughts, which was followed by a short certificate awarding ceremony. The hosts, educators, and entire team of coordinating staff for the day were thanked on the behalf of IIS University with a token of gratitude. The whole session was extremely well-organized and enlightening. The students returned to the university grounds at 3:45 PM with a sense of accomplishment and empowerment to be better citizens and first responders in the future.
