The Department of Psychology, IIS University, organized a two-day educational trip to Pushkar on the 9th and 10th of March, offering students an enriching experience that blended cultural exploration, spiritual learning, and personal development. The trip provided a valuable opportunity for students to step beyond the classroom and engage with real-world experiences that reinforced psychological concepts related to mindfulness, well-being, and social interaction.

The journey began with a visit to the serene Pushkar Lake, a site of immense historical and spiritual significance.  Following this, they explored the vibrant Pushkar Market, renowned for its handicrafts, textiles, and traditional artifacts. The bustling market provided an engaging environment to witness social dynamics, cultural diversity, and the impact of heritage on local businesses.

A highlight of the day was a camel cart ride through the town, allowing students to experience Pushkar’s unique rural charm and traditional lifestyle. The evening was dedicated to recreational activities at the resort, including fun games and a lively DJ night. These activities fostered team spirit, social interaction, and stress relief, highlighting the importance of leisure in maintaining psychological well-being. The informal setting also strengthened peer relationships, creating a supportive and cohesive learning community.

The second day began with a visit to the Brahma Temple. Students delved into its historical and spiritual significance, learning about its connection to Indian mythology and religious traditions. A transformative session followed at Gayatri Gyaan Peeth, where students participated in meditation and pranayama exercises. This session emphasized the mind-body connection, promoting mindfulness and relaxation techniques essential for emotional balance. Students experienced the impact of controlled breathing and meditation on stress reduction, self-awareness, and mental clarity.

Outcome: The trip proved to be a holistic learning experience, offering students a deeper appreciation of cultural heritage, psychological well-being, and interpersonal connections. Overall, the trip successfully integrated education, cultural exploration, and personal well-being, leaving students refreshed, inspired, and with a deeper appreciation for the holistic approach to mental health.
